Python found lurking in Essex toilet may have been on the loose

first_img Laura Cowell The snake Credit: Laura Cowell Although royal pythons are in fact harmless, Mr Yardley was unwilling to cause panic amongst his neighbours by publicising the missing snake on social media. He had eventually resigned himself to losing Reggie, fearing that he could have been eaten by a fox or a cat, until he heard of the snake’s emergence in Mrs Cowell’s bathroom. He has apologised on social media to the Cowell family for the “total accident” and thanked Reggie’s rescuers for saving him from the sewers. For now, Reggie is staying at Scales and Fangs with Mr Yeldham, as a disheartened Mr Yardley had given away Reggie’s enclosure, believing he would never get his pet back.Reggie also was suffering from scale rot from bleach in the sewer system, and so Mr Yeldham said that he wants to keep the snake “until his skin problem is gone and I am sure that he is feeding alright.”Mr Yeldham has also donated a new enclosure to Mr Yardley for Reggie on his return. From this it escaped and made its way to the toilet.” After the snake’s appearance gained attention in the news and on social media, Mr Yardley telephoned the pet shop Scales and Fangs, whose owner, Rob Yeldham, had retrieved the python from the toilet.Mr Yeldham said: “After seeing the social media activity we received a few phone calls from people claiming the snake was theirs.last_img read more
