After falling to 1-6 on the season, Bowling Green finally made a change at head coach, firing Mike Jinks. In three years with the Falcons, Jinks lead the team to just seven victories in 31 games. While the coach of the future hasn’t been decided yet, Carl Pelini will lead the team for the remainder of the season.Pelini is the defensive coordinator for Bowling Green and the brother of Bo Pelini, who was the head coach for Nebraska from 2008-2014. He’s currently leading Youngstown State in the Missouri Valley Conference. This will be the first time Carl Pelini will be a head coach, since his days at Florida Atlantic.People are excited:Bowling Green announces it has fired head coach Mike Jinks. The interim coach: Carl Pelini (!!)— Stewart Mandel (@slmandel) October 14, 2018MY GOD.Carl Pelini is a head coach once again. https://t.co/plIWUoYmK8— Sym (@symmering) October 14, 2018Carl Pelini is Bowling Green’s interim head coach. Finally, change I can believe in.— Tony Gerdeman (@TonyGerdeman) October 14, 2018During his two seasons as the head coach of the Owls, Pelini was 5-15. He also spent time with Ohio University and Minnesota State. If Carl Pelini can change Bowling Green’s culture in the final five games, he could possibly keep the job. With the Falcons struggling to find success for years, it’ll be one tall task for Pelini.
